The following information has been designed to explain what the challenge
is for, its role within Britain's railway industry and benefits.
The significance of having fully qualified and competent first aiders is of paramount importance to us all and it is essential that these skills
become automatic if required in an emergency. It is therefore essential to
train on a regular basis.
How the competition works?
The format consists of a two-person team where both members compete together in the first part of the event, picking up as many points as possible for correct handling/treatment of the casualties in the allotted time of eight minutes.
This is followed by an individual test lasting six minutes. At the end, the team with the highest score wins.
An individual test for those teams that have a reserve member also takes place.
Teams will be participating from many of the railway companies this year, having qualified through regional heats to represent their areas.
Apprentice Final
Gives the apprentices the opportunity to test their ability in making the accident scene safe, carrying out a diagnosis and applying their first aid skills before despatching to hospital.
